Data Products and Servers

For an introduction to the types of LAT data, see LAT Data Products and FITS Files by David Band.

Full Dataset

The full dataset consists of all the gamma-ray and background events which pass the onboard filter (i.e. all those that would be downlinked to the ground).

Several data servers provide access to the events simulated for DC2:

From this site, you can access:

    • LAT Photon data
    • All sky data files (in ~1 week chunks)
    • LAT Pointing History and Livetime data
    • Livetime cubes
    • GBM Burst data
    • Source Catalog
    • DC2 Pulsar Ephemeris
    • Galactic Diffuse Emission Model

Note: Also see FT1 fits format.

  • SLAC Data Portal

Servers provide access to afull set of Events passing the onboard filter (see Data Types: Glast's LAT Data Server), including:

  • LAT Photon data in FT1 format - Astro Data Server
  • Subsets of data from the merit tuple - Pruner

Note: See Summary Ntuples (for DC2).

  • Full Root trees for a set of events by run/event number - Peeler
  • Ready made data files, including:
    • Root pointing history
    • 20M AllGamma run pruned tuple
    • 1B backgrounds run pruned tuple

You can also access

    • Event Display (WIRED) for viewing detector data.
    • The DC2 Animation to get a feel for the DC2 sky.

FT2, position and livetime history files

In addition to information about individual events, we also generate information about the:

    • Location and attitude of the spacecraft, provided in:

FT2 fits format (available from GSSC's site)

Root tuple (available from from SLAC's site).
(See Pointing History and Livetime ROOT Tuple for DC2.)

Note: FT2 EvtLiveTime data is reprocessed so that it is the sum of the livetime from the beginning of the mission

Information is recorded every 30 secs for the 55 day period.

      Starting date (at 0 s) is 1-jan-2008 00:00.

Ancillary Data Products

Ancillary data products required for science analysis are also provided, including:

    • Pulsar ephemerides
      (from GSSC's site)
    • Model of the diffuse galactic gamma-ray emission
      (distributed with the Science Tools)

Compute Intensive Processing

We have also performed some compute intensive high level processing (so that you don't have to...), including:

  • Generation of the diffuse responses
(adds some extra columns to the FT1 file)
  • Calculation of livetimecubes
    (from GSSC; provided for each day of the DC2 simulations;
    see gtltcube.)
