obssim2 Dataset

The obssim2 dataset is a one year simulation using the observation simulator (gtobssim). The observation mode is primarily sky survey with fifty-four, 5-hour, pointed observations (at the location of GRB).

Simulations were generated using the handoff/pass4 IRFs. These IRFs have been significantly improved since the previous SC observation simulation to remove artifacts and systematic features by ensuring that the parameterisations vary smoothly across energy and inclination phase space.

GBM simulations have been produced for all the GRB in the simulation. However, these data are still being tested and will be released in a few days.

The sky model has been significantly updated and improved, and now includes: a variable blazar population which goes to fainter fluxes than before; simulation of binary pulsars; timing noise for pulsar simulations; a greater variety of realistic SNR simulations; and much more. (See
